Partner Videos

  • The Value of a United Way Partnership
At United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the agencies we fund are our partners in meeting basic needs, moving to financial stability and building for success in school and in life. We’re especially grateful to Pittsburgh Scholar House, Westmoreland County Food Bank, Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank, Latino Community Center, The Arc of Butler County and New Century Careers for sharing their stories of how support from United Way’s Impact Fund helps make it possible for them to fulfill their missions and serve the community. • Latino Community Center
All parents dream of seeing their children reach their fullest potential. But that dream can be elusive for Latino families like Ceci Quispe and her two girls. The family had few personal connections in the region, and the language barrier proved to be extremely challenging. In 2017, the Latino Community Center (LCC) began serving Latino families living in Allegheny County, providing much-needed support, guidance and opportunities so that they have the resources they need to thrive. The Latino Community Center is a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is dedicated to empowering, advocating with, and celebrating the Latino Community in Allegheny County. Learn more at latinocommunitycenter.org.
  • The Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank
United Way provides funding and volunteers, conducts diaper drives and helps to raise awareness of the diaper crisis. Along with United Way, Tylesha wants every family to know the value of the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank. “To be able to call somewhere and be transparent and honest about your situation and not be judged is wonderful. And then to have them happily address your need? It’s just amazing.” The Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank is the only regional nonprofit organization focused solely on the distribution of diapers to families of low-income or poverty levels. Together they help meet basic needs allowing seniors to maintain greater independence and quality of life. AgeWell supports isolated seniors, family caregivers, and seniors at risk of moving to a nursing home.
