The Pittsburgh Steelers players and United Way volunteers to engage with kids

Hometown Huddle event at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania will highlight value of out-of-school-time programming and United Way partnerships, Steelers commitment to giving back

What: On Sept. 16, United Way will host The Pittsburgh Steelers players for the Hometown Huddle at the Estelle S. Campbell Boys and Girls Clubhouse in Lawrenceville. Young people enrolled in Boys & Girls Clubs out-of-school-time programming will take part in games and activities with Steelers players, facilitated by United Way volunteers.

Why: United Way connects young people with opportunities to succeed and fulfill their potential. Vital to this is support for out-of-school-time programs that keep young people engaged while parents or guardians are at work. Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania serves nearly 11,000 youth from Allegheny and Somerset County every year through preschool, before- and after-school, summer camp, teen mentoring, workforce development, STEAM and sports programs. Since 2023, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania has received an annual grant of $90,000 from United Way.

When: Media are invited to attend on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Highlights: 4:30 p.m. Steelers introductions and touchdown celebration contest. 4:45 p.m. activity stations open.
