Employee Spotlight: Camryn Lonchar

Meet Camryn (Cam) Lonchar, corporate engagement manager on our Donor Relations team. Cam plays a key role in building and growing relationships with our corporate partners. Outside the office, you’ll probably find Cam leading group fitness classes around the city or showing up at just about every major event happening in Pittsburgh! Get to know more about Cam in her full spotlight below.

What’s your role at United Way and what’s your favorite part of the job?
I’m a corporate engagement manager on our Donor Relations team. I help build and grow relationships with our corporate partners through their workplace campaigns and year-round engagement opportunities. My favorite part of the job is meeting people who are positively impacted by our work. One of the campaigns I manage is Vintage Senior Center. During a visit, they invited me to join a line dancing class on the spot because I was wearing white boots! It was such a fun, unplanned moment that gave me the chance to meet both those who benefit from United Way’s funding and the volunteers who make our work possible.

What’s a moment or accomplishment you’re most proud of?
Professionally and personally, I am proud of staying true to who I am. I’ve worked hard to stay grounded and approach everything I do with intention. I never want to feel like I’m just going through the motions. I try not to take life too seriously. I like to have fun and keep a smile on my face while making meaningful relationships with the people around me.

What’s one thing your coworkers may not know about you?
I’m a group fitness instructor and teach classes in both the Strip District and Mt. Lebanon. It’s a good time! It gives me an outlet to recharge and take a mental break from my day job. Plus, it’s a great way to stay active and connect with people in the community.

When you’re not at work, where can we usually find you?
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me at the gym where I teach fitness classes. I also love going outside for walks, especially during my lunch breaks, whether I’m working from home or in the office. I try to make it to just about every major event happening in Pittsburgh, and you can almost always find me at the Bloomfield Farmers Market.

What’s an item you would bring with you to a deserted island?
I’d probably bring a thick magazine or a really long book, something that would take me a while to get through. That way, by the time I finish it, I might have forgotten how it started and can enjoy it all over again!
