From Nervous Beginner to Rising Star: Jasmine’s Journey with the COL Jazz Program

When Jasmine embarked on her journey with the Center of Life (COL) Jazz program, she brought her passion for the violin and a willingness to learn. Though initially hesitant to perform in front of others, Jasmine embraced the opportunity to develop her skills and showcase her musical talents, a pivotal aspect of the program’s vibrant performances.

Recognizing her dedication, the staff at COL decided to support her by scheduling one-on-one practice sessions. This personalized approach allowed Jasmine to improve her skills at her own pace, gaining confidence with each lesson.

Soon, it was time for Jasmine to take on the ultimate challenge: performing in front of a crowd. While the idea initially terrified her, Jasmine’s newfound proficiency gave her the courage to face her fears. With encouragement from the staff and her peers, she stepped onto the stage and delivered a performance that left the audience in awe.

Jasmine’s evolution from a hesitant newcomer to a confident performer has made her one of the rising stars in the COL Jazz program. This remarkable journey wouldn’t have been possible without the flexibility provided by United Way funding, which allows organizations like COL to offer individualized support and resources to young talents who might otherwise miss out on their dreams.

Thanks to the dedicated support of the United Way, students like Jasmine can pursue passions, gain self-assurance and create lasting memories through music.
