Meals on Wheels connects seniors with services
In January 2024, Meals on Wheels (MOW) of Greater Pittsburgh discovered that Anthony was having an issue at his current residence and needed a new place to live. A MOW driver shared the information with her meals supervisor, who then reached out and contacted a Macedonia Family & Community Enrichment Center (FACE) case manager. Anthony needed assistance locating a new place to live, and coming up with a security deposit and the first month’s rent. The case manager came to Anthony’s home to assess his finances. Together, they developed a budget and reviewed listings of available apartments. Anthony has since relocated to an apartment in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood and continues to receive Meals on Wheels. His story demonstrates the value of the home-delivery meal service and the caring MOW drivers who build relationships with the older adults they serve. Those relationships enable MOW to recognize additional needs and connect older adults with services that can support those needs.
