United Way offers meaningful volunteer opportunities to engage your organization and support our partner nonprofit agencies. Our partners have identified these volunteer projects as their most pressing needs. To reserve one of these projects for your group, please contact Mark Harrison.

Volunteers are needed to support a nonprofit agency’s Green STEAM event, which will provide a day of educational activities for children.

When: Monday, April 14, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Homewood, Allegheny County.

How many volunteers? Five to 25 volunteers.

Who are we helping? Children.

 

Volunteers are needed to support a nonprofit agency’s resource fair.

When: Wednesday, April 30, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or Wednesday, May 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Where: Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.

How many volunteers? Four to five volunteers. 

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency offering free educational programs for adults and children.

 

Volunteers are needed to support an agency’s Touch a Truck event for children. Tasks include helping the agency staff with parking, the bake sale, the drink tent, the raffle, set up, and clean up. 

When: Saturday, May 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m

Where: Zelienople, Butler County.  

How many volunteers? Five to 15 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency providing mental health services to children. 

 

Volunteers are needed to support a nonprofit agency’s bingo night.

 

When: Friday, May 30, 5 to 9 p.m.

Where: Butler, Butler County.   

How many volunteers? Six to 12 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency addressing food and housing insecurity in Butler County.

 

Volunteers are needed to support a community event for families. Tasks include helping the agency staff with parking, the bake sale, the drink tent, the raffle, set up, and clean up.

When: Saturday, August 9, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Zelienople, Butler County. 

How many volunteers? Five to 25 volunteers.   

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency providing mental health services to children and families. 

 

 

Volunteers are needed to help sort and prepare food donations for distribution.

 

When: Flexible.

Where: Millvale, Allegheny County.  

How many volunteers? Two to 12 volunteers.  

Who are we helping? People and families experiencing food insecurity. 

 

Volunteers are needed to assist with the maintenance of an urban farm (outdoors).

When: Wednesdays through Saturdays (June through October).

Where: Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.  

How many volunteers? Two to 10 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency serving children and families.

 

 

Outdoor maintenance and upkeep of a nonprofit agency.

When: Flexible.

Where: Butler, Butler County. 

How many volunteers? Three to five volunteers.

Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency serving people with disabilities. 

 

Volunteers are needed for park cleanup and maintenance.

When: Tuesday evenings (May to September). 

Where: Brownsville, Fayette County.  

How many volunteers? Five to 25 volunteers.

Who are we helping? Families and children in Fayette County. 

 

 

Volunteers are needed to help sort and prepare food donations for distribution.

When: Flexible.

Where: Republic, Fayette County.

How many volunteers? Two to 25 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? People and families experiencing food insecurity.  

 

Volunteers are needed to host a family fun night for families in transitional housing.

When: Flexible (evenings preferred).

Where: Glenshaw, Allegheny County. 

How many volunteers? Five to 15 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? Families and children in transitional housing. 

 

 

Volunteers are needed to help sort and prepare diaper donations for distribution.

When: Flexible.

Where: Point Breeze, Allegheny County. 

How many volunteers? Five to 20 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? Families and children throughout the region.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare resource folders with brochures, hotline cards, letters to the community, and donation lists for nonprofit agency clients. 

When: Fridays or Saturdays. 

Where: Greensburg, Westmoreland County. 

How many volunteers? Five to 10 volunteers. 

Who are we helping? Clients are being served by an anti-violence nonprofit.
