United Way Days

Volunteers are invited to decorate their car trunks in a kid-friendly, Halloween theme and hand out small, non-food items to children.
When: Friday, Oct. 31, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Homewood, Allegheny County.
How many volunteers? Five to eight volunteers.
Who are we helping? Children being served by the agency.
Volunteers will assist with loading prepared meals into vehicles, delivering meals to residents in the neighborhood and assisting with the check-in table for families picking up meals from the agency.
When: Friday, Nov. 21, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Hazelwood, Allegheny County.
How many volunteers? Six to 12 volunteers.
Who are we helping? People and families facing food insecurity.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the maintenance of an urban farm (outdoors).
When: Wednesdays through Saturdays (June through October).
Where: Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.
How many volunteers? Two to 10 volunteers.
Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency serving children and families.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare a bulk mailing for their annual holiday appeal.
When: Flexible (must be completed by early November).
Where: Zelienople, Butler County.
How many volunteers? Five to 15 volunteers.
Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency providing mental health services to children and families.
Volunteers are needed to help clear out an agency’s records room, working with agency staff to identify records for destruction.
When: Flexible (must be completed by mid-November).
Where: Zelienople, Butler County.
How many volunteers? Five to 10 volunteers.
Who are we helping?A nonprofit agency providing mental health services to children and families.
Volunteers will hang wreaths and install other holiday decorations to help spread holiday cheer.
When: Weekday mornings, late November through early December.
Where: East Liberty, Allegheny County.
How many volunteers? Four to eight volunteers.
Who are we helping? Members of the community center.
Volunteers are needed to prepare an agency’s outdoor spaces for the winter. Tasks will include clearing out barns and pastures and painting fences. Materials and equipment will be provided by the agency.
When: Flexible (must be completed by late November).
Where: Zelienople, Butler County.
How many volunteers? 10 to 30 volunteers.
Who are we helping? A nonprofit agency providing mental health services to children and families.
Volunteers are needed to help prepare resource folders with brochures, hotline cards, letters to the community, and donation lists for nonprofit agency clients.
When: Fridays or Saturdays.
Where: Greensburg, Westmoreland County.
How many volunteers? Five to 10 volunteers.
Who are we helping? Clients are being served by an anti-violence nonprofit.
Volunteers are needed to help sort and prepare food donations for distribution.
When: Flexible.
Where: Millvale, Allegheny County.
How many volunteers? Two to 12 volunteers.

Volunteers needed to host a family fun night for families in transitional housing.
When: Flexible (evenings preferred).
Where: Glenshaw, Allegheny County.

Volunteers needed to help sort and prepare diaper donations for distribution.
When: Flexible.
Where: Point Breeze, Allegheny County.

Volunteers are needed to prepare meals by packing frozen microwaveable meals, milk, and various sides into bags for distribution.
When: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7 to 11 a.m. (2 to 4 hours per shift)
