Applications for Community Food Solutions grants now open

PITTSBURGH (Feb. 5, 2025) – United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Community Food Solutions grant-making cycle is now open to applicants in Allegheny County. The online application portal opened on Jan. 31 and applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 3 to be considered for funding.

Now in its second year of grantmaking, the Community Food Solutions program awards grants of up to $5,000 to organizations and groups working to combat food insecurity in their neighborhoods. Grants are awarded during three cycles per year. A steering committee of leading food security-focused organizations in the field provides grantees with resources, connections and technical assistance. Awardees from this cycle will be announced in early April.

Since 2023, United Way has awarded 51 grants totaling $236,620 to 49 organizations through Community Food Solutions. More information, application instructions and access to the application portal are available on the United Way website: Community Food Solutions – United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
