Impact Grant:

YWCA Greater Pittsburgh’s Emergency Basic Needs Program – Community Kitchen Pittsburgh is an employment based social enterprise. Participants are paid while in training. Extended transitional employment is provided to those who need a longer engagement in a supported work environment. Job placement and retention supports, as well as wraparound case management coordination and support, are offered to students.

Falk Facilities and Technology Improvement Fund:

Equipment and Repair – Community Kitchen Pittsburgh purchased additional kitchen equipment to safely accommodate increased meal production—averaging 2,600 meals daily—across 35 afterschool and child nutrition sites, shelters, recovery houses, and hospital discharge programs for low-income patients and caregivers.

Falk Facilities and Technology Improvement Fund:

Technology Upgrade – Community Kitchen installed a large training monitor in the kitchen to enhance flexibility in workforce development classes. The monitor supports video-based instruction, reinforces kitchen vocabulary, and allows for recording and replaying sessions to accommodate growing class sizes and varied training needs.
