Impact Grant:

Human Services Center Mon Valley supports residents by offering free tax preparation through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Trained volunteers help individuals and families accurately file their taxes, access applicable credits and maximize refunds, providing vital financial support that increases stability and well-being in the community.

This grant helps fund tax assistance efforts, supporting one fixed site and three mobile clinics in 2024. These services ensure that households without reliable transportation in the Mon Valley and Duquesne City can access free, accurate tax preparation and claim all applicable credits.

Human Services Center’s Financial Empowerment Community Outreach – Human Services Center Mon Valley conducts financial literacy education workshops for more than 400
individuals annually giving them crucial knowledge to help them move toward financial stability. The Center also provides free tax preparation services to more than 600 low-income individuals each tax season.

Human Services Center Youth Moving Towards Success – Human Services Center Mon Valley’s KOOL Summer and Youth LIFE After-School Programs provide free quality academic, social and recreational opportunities for low-income students in grades 1-5. Programming is delivered through smaller classes and, through the Emerging Leaders Program, includes career and college readiness for high school seniors.
