Welcome Back Summer:

The Merakey Foundation operates Summer Fun with Friends Camp, a four-week summer program designed specifically for youth with special needs from Westmoreland and surrounding counties, many of whom live below the poverty line. As the region’s first and only full-time special needs summer camp, it provides a safe, supportive and engaging environment for children with autism to learn, play and build friendships.

This grant helps fund an eight-week structured therapeutic camp that combines fun with critical support for children and families. The program offers a much-needed in-person environment where campers can engage in socialization, maintain structure and participate in gross motor activities. It also provides families with the essential summer support they may not otherwise be able to access.

Summer Fun with Friends Camp at Merakey Mt. Pleasant Autism Center is the region’s first and only full-time summer camp for youth with special needs. The four-week program serves children from Westmoreland and surrounding counties, many of whom live below the poverty line, and provides a safe, inclusive and enriching summer experience.

This grant supports an eight-week structured therapeutic camp that offers in-person programming focused on socialization, routine and gross motor activities. Designed to meet the needs of children who benefit from a consistent and supportive environment, the camp also provides essential summer support for families who may have limited access to such resources.
