Multi-year Grant

Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs, in partnership with Hopebound Ministries and Robert Morris University (RMU), offers a preschool playgroup that helps kindergarten students start school with confidence. RMU students help by mentoring at Mooncrest’s After-School Program. Children must attend school to be eligible for the afterschool program. Rewards are given for completing homework. Special celebrations and activities result in steady attendance.

2025

Community Food Solutions:

This funding will support continued food pantry deliveries to immigrant and low-income families in an isolated area of Moon Township that has no public transportation. Funding will help cover fuel and staffing for twice-monthly deliveries and support maintenance of a community garden and food forest that improves local food access. These efforts address growing food insecurity and mobility challenges among vulnerable residents.

Welcome Back Summer:

Mooncrest Summer Mix keeps kids engaged all summer with a lively blend of food, fun, fresh air and learning. The program features a curriculum-based community garden, theater, art, music, sports and games, with a strong focus on ESL, STEM, STEAM and summer reading.

Mooncrest Summer Mix keeps kids engaged all summer with a lively blend of food, fun, fresh air and learning. The program features a curriculum-based community garden, theater, art, music, sports and games, with a strong focus on ESL, STEM, STEAM and summer reading.

This grant supports daily fitness activities and a comprehensive summer camp focused on social and emotional well-being, learning loss prevention and college and career readiness. Programs include MASD online summer school, STEM/STEAM activities led by high school students in partnership with CMU, hands-on science gardening for younger kids and early literacy sessions with story time and crafts for preschoolers.
