2023

Welcome Back Summer:

The Summer Reading Program offers fun, educational activities that support early literacy and school readiness for children and teens. Preschoolers build a love of books through exposure to print and playful sound-based learning, while school-age participants are encouraged to keep reading over the summer to help prevent learning loss and stay on track for the school year ahead.

This grant provides funding for engaging, educational activities to support early literacy and school readiness for children and teens. Preschool programs focus on building a love of books by exposing children to print and by developing sound awareness to strengthen foundational skills. For school-age children, the program offers reading opportunities that help bridge the gap between school years and combat the “summer slide,” particularly for students from low-income families.
