Welcome Back Summer:

Sonward Youth Programs is a community-based youth enrichment initiative in New Kensington, founded in 2011. Dedicated to making a positive impact, the organization strives to transform the community one child and one family at a time through meaningful support and opportunities.

This grant helps fund Sonward’s eight-week summer program, which provides students in pre-K through eighth grade with healthy meals, social and emotional learning, STEAM and gardening activities and career readiness experiences, all supported by teen mentors in a safe and engaging environment.

Welcome Back Summer:

Sonward Youth Programs in New Kensington is a community-based youth enrichment initiative founded in 2011. Dedicated to making a positive impact, the program strives to transform the community one child and one family at a time through meaningful support and opportunities.

This grant supports Sonward Youth Programs’ eight-week summer initiative, which offers weekday programming for students in pre-K through eighth grade. Younger children participate in a lunch and enrichment program featuring healthy meals, teen mentorship and rotating activities like social and emotional learning, community service, makerspace/STEAM and gardening. Older youth engage in career readiness activities designed to prepare them for future opportunities.
