Welcome Back Summer:

Voices Against Violence has operated a no-cost summer camp for youth ages 4 to 14 in Pittsburgh’s South Hilltop neighborhoods since 1995.

This grant helps fund the VAV Summer Experience, which blends traditional day camp fun with academic enrichment and a focus on overall wellbeing. Held in the natural setting of McKinley Park, the program offers youth opportunities to explore coding, robotics, art, music, music therapy, gardening and physical activities, all within a supportive and caring environment that fosters growth and creativity.

Welcome Back Summer:

Voices Against Violence (VAV) has proudly offered a free summer camp experience for 28 years to youth from low-income, underserved communities in South Pittsburgh. This seven-week program for children age 4 to 14 embraces the theme “Smile and Heal,” focusing on mental health, well-being, self-care, mindfulness and the healing power of the outdoors.

This grant supported the VAV Summer Experience 2023, which blended traditional day camp fun with academic enrichment and holistic wellbeing. Held at McKinley Park, the program offered activities such as coding, robotics, art, music therapy, gardening and physical exercise in a nurturing environment that promoted learning and personal growth.
