Welcome Back Summer:
Young Black Motivated Kings and Queens (YBMKQ) provides youth and families in greater Allegheny County with a safe, supportive space where young people can be creative, expressive and empowered as they explore their role in the community and the world.
This grant helps fund YBMKQ Academy’s summer program for middle school youth, which offers a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment. The program combines tutoring with culturally relevant, real-world applications to spark curiosity and academic growth, while also addressing trauma and providing access to social workers to ensure that students are supported both academically and emotionally.

YBMKQ University summer programming offers a structured, engaging environment during out-of-school hours.
This grant supports providing a safe, engaging and educational summer experience for middle school youth. The program combines tutoring with culturally relevant, real-world learning opportunities, while also addressing trauma and offering access to social workers to support students’ emotional well-being.
