Emergency Food Assistance

Due to the government shutdown, 300,000 households won’t get SNAP food assistance on Nov. 3. Legal appeals may delay benefits, causing widespread food insecurity. Give today to support emergency food assistance and our 211 contact center, which has seen dramatic upticks in calls for food.

Impact Grant:

YouthPlaces in Pittsburgh creates safe, empowering spaces where young people are encouraged to imagine, explore and shape their own futures. Grounded in a positive youth development approach, the organization focuses on building key developmental assets that support long-term success. This summer, YouthPlaces will offer two tailored learning experiences, each designed to meet the unique needs of the communities and age groups they serve.

This grant supports YP Ignite (middle school) and YP Leads (high school), two programs serving teens age 12–18 with a focus on social and emotional learning, academic enrichment, workforce development in tech, physical activity, digital literacy, STEM/STEAM and social and environmental justice. Participants also engage in paid community service projects aimed at reducing violence.
