Give today to support emergency food assistance and our 211 contact center, which has seen dramatic upticks in calls for food. Click here to give.

From Service to Stability: a veteran’s path to career success

Auberle

Kev, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran who served in Baghdad as a military police officer, is now building a thriving career thanks to his determination and access to community resources. While staying at the Veterans Recovery Center living facility, Kev discovered a flyer for Auberle Employment Institute’s Environmental Workforce Training Program — an initiative that immediately sparked his interest. The program offered free hazardous material and emergency response certifications, a Pennsylvania asbestos abatement worker license and connections to employer partners. Auberle’s program provided Kev with the opportunity to pursue a stable, career-oriented path.

Driven by his goal of securing meaningful employment that aligned with his skills and experiences, Kev enrolled in the program and excelled. Upon graduation, he landed a position as an asbestos laborer at Spectrum Prism Response, where he has been employed for a year. With his new income, Kev achieved the major milestones of securing his own housing and purchasing a vehicle.

United Way support for Auberle covered the cost of Kev’s certifications, a stipend to cover basic living expenses and access to behavioral health services.
