ACTION-Housing: Improving access

Kenneth and Sharen Honick have resided in their family home since 1963. Over the years, they have benefited from various ACTION-Housing programs, such as enhancing their home’s energy efficiency. Recently, they faced a situation where a new boiler was needed. ACTION-Housing promptly provided assistance them through its crisis furnace program. 

During the workers’ visit, Mrs. Honick mentioned that Ken’s stair-lift, crucial for his mobility between floors, was no longer functioning after a decade of use. Despite multiple repairs, it was evident that a replacement was necessary. Thanks to funding from the United Way’s Sustainable Home Improvement Program, ACTION-Housing was able to install a new lift, restoring Ken’s ease of movement within his home.
