Emergency Food Assistance

Due to the government shutdown, 300,000 households did not get SNAP food assistance on Nov. 3. Legal appeals may delay benefits, causing widespread food insecurity. Give today to support emergency food assistance and our 211 contact center, which has seen dramatic upticks in calls for food. Click here to give.

United Way’s Poverty Spiral simulation at Pittsburgh Office

Engagement Opportunity

Join United Way as we facilitate the Poverty Spiral simulation in Allegheny County at our office in Pittsburgh. The Poverty Spiral provides an opportunity to increase empathy towards those in our region who experience poverty and better understand the decision-making required to survive in financial instability. This simulation requires you to put yourself in the shoes of someone else and face situations without clear solutions.

We hope that this interactive and impactful experience will leave you with an open mind, challenge your preconceived notions about poverty, increase awareness of the struggles of many of our Southwestern PA neighbors, and ask yourself, “What next?”

This event will take place at 1250 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. If you have any questions, please reach out to Allaina Wagner at [email protected].
